Who we are
We are fascinated by Yoruba theology. Our Cuban friend omo Obatala, Ewin Efun, (ibae) awoke our curiosity twenty years ago when in her hallway we had our first encounter with Eleggua…
Between explanations and trips to Cuba we have attempted to grasp Yoruba theology. One by one we have climbed the steps in a well-known and welcoming religious family in Matanzas (Cuba). For the last eleven years we have been studying the mysteries of this unending tradition with the help of Okana Ka.
Ricardo (Okana Ka) is a respected babalawo in Cuba and the head of a large religious family whose experience and wisdom is recognized by all. It is with his help and approval that we have created this internet portal with information provided by this family and a number of texts we have found relevant. In the course of the last century traditional oral transmission has made room for the written and we are now able to communicate with you thanks to the web. Today we wish to share our modest knowledge and acquaint others with this remarkable Yoruba culture listed by UNESCO as part of humanity’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Here are some of the Babalawos, Babaloshas, Iyaloshas and members of our religious family: Ricardo, Awo Orunmila, Okana Ka Víctor, Awo Orumila, Osa Kuleya Abdul, Awo Orunmila, Ogbe Tua Domingo, Awo Orunmila Ojuani Birete Ernesto, Awo Orunmila, Ogbe Ate Eddy, Awo Orunmila, Otura Ika Tomas, Awo Orunmila, Baba Ika Melli Manuel, Awo Orunmila, Ogbe Ate Esperanza, Omo Oshun Carmita, Omo Oshun Nancy, Omo Obatala Teresa, Omo Yemaya Yuri, Omo Shango Alexander, Omo Eleggua.
We also want to publish informations on the Palo Mayombe that has been brought to us by Miguel, “Tata Guiro suena fuerte arriba en Nkunia ceiba camino 7 Rayos Zarabanda Brillumba Vititi Congo saca npeño camino cruce pasa a paso por el mundo rompe monte guinda vela”; by Elisabeth, “Yayi Chola rio hondo vence batalla ngando las 24 horas, rompe monte guinda vela” and the members of their religious family that lives in Mexico.
We believe that there is not only one truth. Everyone can find his way or path according to his own affinities. That is why you will find headings on spiritism and other subjects.
